Dr. Marvin Sackner, M.D., is the Chairman of the Board and founder of Non-Invasive
Monitoring Systems Inc. and the inventor of the AT101 passive-exercise device.
He is also the inventor of the NIMS Respitrace sleep-monitoring products
and more than 20 other successful medical devices. Respitrace products
are used in sleep laboratories worldwide to detect sleep apneas and other
sleep abnormalities.
Dr. Sackner is currently the Medical Director and a Member of the Board
of Directors of VivoMetrics, Inc., which is marketing the LifeShirt
System. The underlying patents used to make the LifeShirt were created
by Dr. Sackner and NIMS received an equity ownership in VivoMetrics and
royalties on LifeShirt revenues in return for the right to those patents.
He is an internationally known and respected physician and medical innovator
- a Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami at Mt. Sinai, Emeritus
Director of Medical Services at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Past President
of the American Thoracic Society, Past Chairman of the Pulmonary Disease
Subspecialty Board and a Past Member of the American Board of Internal
Medicine.
Dr. Sackner has been honored three times by his peers as one of the
Best Doctors in America in Town & Country magazine and was named one
of the Best 400 Doctors in America by Good Housekeeping magazine.
He hold 25 patents for successful, commercial medical devices including
the AeroFlo and AsperSafe suction catheters and the InspirEase MDI aerosol
delivery system.
A well-established and sought-after medical investigator, Dr. Sackner
has authored and published more than 200 peer-review journal articles,
four books and 20 chapters in medical texts.
Dr. Sackner and his wife, Ruth, were honored in a Special Edition of
Art & Antiques magazine in 2002 as being among the nation's 100 Top
Collectors, citing their extensive collection of rare and valuable Art
with Text and Artists' Books.
